Earthquake in Mexico


On September 19, Mexico suffered one of the most deadly earthquakes in its recent history, which had a magnitude of 7.1, just two weeks after another magnitude 8.1 earthquake that was listed as the strongest in 100 years .

The earthquake of September 19 shook central Mexico and its epicenter was in Puebla, in the center of the country, left 337 dead and at least 1,900 injured people who were treated in hospital centers.

On September 7, an earthquake of magnitude 8.2 was recorded on the southern coast of Mexico. The epicenter of the telluric movement was located in Tonalá, state of Chiapas, at a depth of 33 kilometers. The earthquake had some 60 aftershocks, leaving fatalities and causing serious material damage. In several countries, the tsunami warning has been announced. It is the earthquake "of greater magnitude in the last 100 years" in Mexico, affirmed the president of the nation, Enrique Peña Nieto.
