Chavez was diagnosed with cancer in 2011, while in 2012, after the presidential
elections of October, he was flown to Cuba to receive medical treatment. After
surgery in December of that year, his health became complicated and in February
2013 he returned to Venezuela and went to an army hospital in Caracas.
